| Hosokawa Mircon Micronizing Plant |
| STK-ID: 1407 Plant Built: 2002 Plant Shut Down: 2009 |
| Technology: Hosokawa Micron |
Description 1 off Micronizing Plant, designed by Hosokawa Micron Ltd,2002, the plant consists of the following basic functions: Solids Feed, Micronizing, Product Collection, Clean In Place, Critical Design Aspects. |
More Details Product is charged through a matcon discharge station directly above a variable speed screw feeder. The product is then transfered via chute to the screw feeder and metered into system the via the screw feeder which provides an even and consistant throughput to the process plant. The feeder discharges into a fixed speed rotary airlock set to run at a greater throughput than the system feed rate to ensure the throughput is maintained by the loss in weight feeder. The airlock is fitted to the inlet of the mill where it acts as a pneumatic airlock and enables the product to be discharged directly into the 200 AFG Jet Mill. This 10bar pressure rated rotary airlock also acts as an explosion barrier and will prevent any flame passage in the event of an explosion. The powder is micronised by the focused energy of three jets of compressed Nitrogen, which causes the powder particles to impact and fracture against each other. After micronisation and classification within the 200 AFG Jet Mill, the powder is pneumatically conveyed to the reverse jet bag filter. On-line particle analysis is performed during this transfer phase, utilising laser diffraction techniques. The micronised product enters the body of the reverse jet filter and disentrains from the conveying gas stream. Gas borne particles, which are collected on the filter media are removed by the reverse pulses of compressed Nitrogen. The powder falls into steep sided conical filter hopper where it is discharged by means of a rotary airlock into a hygenic filling/weighing system for packing. |
