Pan dryers or vacuum pan dryers as they also known as are used to dry liquids, pastes or powders under vacuum at low temperatures and normally used on applications that are heat sensitive. They are most commonly used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Typically they consist of a flat bottomed, jacketed, cylindrical vessel with bottom and side surfaces swept by a top or bottom mounted agitator. The jacket of the vessel can be heated by water, steam or oil. Operation can be under vacuum or atmospheric pressure.
