Evaporators

Sell Your Equipment

Evaporators are specialised pieces of equipment used in various industries for the concentration or separation of liquids through the process of evaporation. They are designed to handle large volumes of liquid and are employed in applications where high efficiency and throughput are required. Industrial evaporators come in different types and configurations depending on the specific requirements of the process. Some common types of industrial evaporators include:

Falling Film Evaporators: These are widely used in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries for the concentration of liquid solutions. In falling film evaporators, the liquid is fed to the top of vertical tubes or plates, and a thin film is formed as the liquid flows downward. Heat is applied to the exterior of the tubes or plates, causing the liquid to evaporate and concentrate.

Forced Circulation Evaporators: In forced circulation evaporators, the liquid is circulated through the heat exchanger using a pump to ensure efficient heat transfer and prevent fouling. This type of evaporator is commonly used for viscous or fouling liquids in industries such as pulp and paper, chemical processing, and wastewater treatment.

Multiple Effect Evaporators: They consist of two or more evaporator vessels arranged in series, with the vapor from one effect used to heat the next effect. This allows for the efficient use of heat energy and significant energy savings compared to single-effect evaporators. Multiple effect evaporators are used in industries such as sugar refining, dairy processing, and chemical manufacturing.

Rotary Evaporators: These are commonly used in laboratory and pilot-scale applications for the gentle evaporation of solvents from samples. They consist of a rotating flask that is heated in a water bath or oil bath, and a vacuum system to reduce the pressure and lower the boiling point of the solvent.

Crystallisation Evaporators: These are used to concentrate solutions to the point where crystals of the solute begin to form. These evaporators are commonly used in industries such as sugar refining, pharmaceuticals, and chemical processing.

Industrial evaporators are critical components in many manufacturing processes, allowing for the efficient concentration, purification, and separation of liquids for various industrial applications.

Manufacturers include GEA, Niro, Pfaudler, Luwa, APV and many more.
