Ball Mills

Ball mills are cylindrical devices used to grind materials such chemicals, ceramics, minerals and paints. Ball mills rotate around a horizontal axis and are partially filled with material to be milled plus the grinding medium. The grinding medium can be ceramic balls, pebbles or stainless steel balls. As the ball mill rotates an internal cascading effect is created which reduces the material to a fine powder.
