Diaphragm Pumps

Diaphragm pumps or air operated double diaphragm pumps (AODD) as they are also known are positive displacement pumps which use compressed air as their power source. They are self priming therefore have good suction capabilities without the need for a manual priming device. The pump is made up of two chambers each with their own inlet and outlet check valve and two flexible diaphragms usually made of rubber or PTFE. The diaphragms are connected by a shaft and they reciprocate back and forth creating a temporary chamber. Both draw in and expels fluid through the pump.

Diaphragm pumps are versatile design making them suitable for pumping low and high viscosity fluids including those that contain particles. They can be constructed from a wide variety of materials making them suitable for the most aggressive chemicals.
