Horizontal Vacuum Paddle Dryer (Sanidry)
Specification
Description
The Sanidry Horizontal Vacuum Paddle Dryer is a specialized sanitary designed vacuum dryer for efficient drying, mixing, and thermal processing of wet, heat-sensitive, or solvent-laden materials—especially in pharmaceutical, chemical, and food industries.
A Sanidry Horizontal Vacuum Paddle Dryer is a jacketed horizontal cylindrical vessel equipped with:
- A central agitator fitted with paddle blades (hence the name),
- Operated under vacuum, and
- Designed for uniform heat transfer and efficient drying.
Component | Description |
Horizontal cylindrical shell | Provides space for drying material in a shallow bed. |
Paddle agitator | Rotates slowly to mix material, prevent sticking, and expose wet surfaces. |
Vacuum system | Lowers boiling point, enabling drying at lower temperatures. |
Jacketed body and shaft | Heated using steam, hot water, or thermal oil for even drying. |
Discharge port | Allows automatic discharge of dried powder with minimal manual intervention. |
Sanitary design (Sanidry) | Mirror-polished surfaces, CIP (Clean-in-Place) or SIP (Sterilize-in-Place) systems, and full GMP compliance. |
- Charging: Wet cake or slurry is loaded into the vessel.
- Heating & Vacuum: The vessel is heated via the jacket and shaft while vacuum is applied to evaporate moisture/solvent.
- Agitation: The paddle agitator stirs the product, ensuring uniform drying and preventing clumping or scorching.
- Drying: Moisture vapor is removed by the vacuum system and condensed externally.
- Discharging: Dry powder is automatically or manually discharged through a bottom outlet.
- Efficient drying at low temperatures – ideal for heat-sensitive materials.
- Uniform drying – paddle agitation ensures even heating and moisture removal.
- Closed system – prevents contamination and solvent loss.
- Sanitary, GMP-compliant design – suited for pharmaceutical-grade products.
- Solvent recovery – can be integrated with a condenser system.
- Safe for flammable/volatile solvents – due to vacuum and inert atmosphere capability.
- Drying of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs)
- Crystalline or amorphous powders
- Solvent recovery from wet cakes
- Drying of herbal extracts, fine chemicals, or nutraceuticals
- Post-centrifuge drying operations
